Declining quality of research nowadays

Research is a work that is not called research unless it is done with full effort. The new work that comes out after this research is no less than an achievement for a researcher and the world. In modern times, the quality of research in science and social sciences subjects (especially in Pakistan) has not been what the principles of research are based on. The way research is being done (exceptions are everywhere), there are some problems that if not corrected now, the quality of research will continue to decline. What are those problems? And what criteria does a ‘researcher’ have to keep in mind in research? They are entrusted here.

To collect four things and present them to someone. That is, collecting information from here and there and then saying that this is a ‘research paper’. The standard of research here in general has become somewhat similar. Collecting information from different places does not mean research but is called ‘collecting’ things. Most of the (so-called) research articles, when read carefully, reveal that the so-called research is actually a collection of information from around the world.Everyone has a right to an opinion. That opinion can be right or wrong. Now to write down someone’s opinion (it is also unethical to write down a sentence spoken or an opinion given by a person in a private gathering, without taking it into confidence, that too under one’s own name) and then Adding a few more things to it and presenting it to people and then insisting that it is research. Some similar investigations are being seen on social media these days.

If you are interested in becoming a researcher, then definitely contribute, but repeating the same work on the previous work is not the quality of research. Sometimes, so much work has been done on the same topics that the heart says that’s it! Now that’s it! It’s enough. People are tired of reading the same topic (with slight variations). In the world of research, it is undesirable to work on personalities, because if more people work on the same personality, the initial chapters will be approximately (when born, where born, where did you get your primary education, how many married, how many children, etc etc) are the same. If your favorite character has been worked on, then no further work is required. More work means putting a bee on the bee. However! It is just as important to work on a character as to work on aspects of that person that have never been worked on in the past so that the reader sees a new face.

Making your own work by heavily copying other people’s work (changed the title, added a few words to the inside lines, etc.). It has become a common thing to name one’s name by making minor changes in one’s research. Although this also falls under the category of plagiarism, however! Now that it has become common, people have stopped thinking that such works fall under the category of plagiarism. Before writing a research paper on any topic, the things that should be kept in mind are as follows:Before working on any subject, see ‘your passion’. Your passion will only help you to move forward in research. It has been seen that when the students come to the research field, they are asking others about which topic to work on. Everyone has their own inclinations, so they are introducing new topics according to their taste, but that topic will not interest you until you have your own passion.

Be sure to ask others, but first set your mind-set as to which subject you want to go for, so that the person in front of you (could be your teachers, friends and relatives) can guide you through various academic topics related to it. For example, if a scholar (who is related to social science) is inclined towards ‘Seerat-ul-Nabi’. When he consults, let him know in advance that my inclination is on ‘Siraat’, so that he can be guided only by Sirat. After choosing the topic, it is necessary to see how much work has been done on this topic in the past. If it has been done in the past, try to choose another subject. That is why it is said to choose ‘three to four topics (of interest and passion)’, so that if one topic has been worked on in the past, the other is available. But ‘society’ must be kept in mind in your research work so that your research proves beneficial to the society in the future.

Always base your research work on two principles. ‘Reasonable and Concise’ After collecting all the references, when you write it should be clear and concise. That is, there must be arguments and comprehensiveness behind whatever work is done. Otherwise, if the meaning and comprehensiveness is not proved by filling the pages, then these pages are of no use. Many people proudly say that my dissertation is five hundred pages or two or three volumes. Very good, but this volume will be useful only when the ‘researcher’ has his own arguments. If a researcher keeps all the above mentioned things in mind during his research, not only quality research will come out in future, but the quality of research will also be high.
