For example, Prophets are seen to be patient in all kinds of situations. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah Almighty advises us to be patient in times of trouble and seek help through prayer, and also tells us that Allah is with those who are patient (2:153).
Gratitude seems to be a simple act, but it is an elixir for a person to avoid problems in the world, to be happy and to overcome difficulties. Whenever one’s heart is sad, if he starts counting the countless blessings of Allah, his sadness will disappear in minutes. But man is often ungrateful to his Lord and gets into trouble.
Allah has mentioned the ungratefulness of man in many places in the words “Qalil Ma Tashkaroon”. Similarly, not being grateful to servants is also a moral defect. Be sure to be grateful to whoever does good or kindness to you and be grateful to him in your heart. This will improve relationships and ward off depression.
It is said in the hadith that “prayer is the weapon of the believer”. So make it a habit to pray in all kinds of situations, good or bad. Because Allah hears the supplications of man and accepts them (Al-Momin: 60). Recite the Qur’anic and Masnoon supplications well in prayer and prostration. Because in prostration, a person is closer to Allah (Al-Alaq: 19). At the same time, ask for forgiveness a lot.
Research shows that many junk and fast foods themselves cause depression. Consuming foods rich in omega-3 like fish and walnuts plays an important role in keeping a person relaxed and happy. Consuming seasonal vegetables, fruits and water is important to maintain your overall health.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed by sadness, try to do your daily activities with consistency. This will improve your mood, reduce stress. Busyness itself is a powerful weapon against depression. Rather, it will not be wrong to say that ‘Be busy, get rid of depression’.
Be sure to include hobbies in your life that you can enjoy. For example, take up gardening, reading books, swimming or different sports. Keep yourself away from computer games and social media. Research has made it clear that these types of activities are harmful to both the human body and mind.
Instead of relying on others, take care of yourself. In this, it is important to arrange the cleanliness of your body, clothes and place. Sunlight is considered an excellent anti-depressant. Walking outdoors also improves mood.
Exercising is the need of the hour in today’s mechanized age. Research has shown that exercise is an excellent anti-depressant. Exercising or walking releases hormones in the human body called “endorphins or happy hormones”. They keep a person happy and where there is happiness, what is the use of sadness or despair.
Don’t blame yourself all the time or for every mistake. As soon as negative thoughts start to surround you, replace them with a positive thought or action. In the beginning you have to make a conscious effort, then you will get used to it and it will be possible to get rid of your negative habits and thoughts unconsciously.
