In the year 2015, ‘Green Hands Welfare Organization’ started planting trees in different ways in the city with your help and this process is still going on. On behalf of this organization, plantations are done especially on the lands of schools, colleges, universities, mosques, madrassas, imambargahs, and churches etc.The reason for this is that the concerned organizations can take care of the trees by giving them ownership. Because planting a plant is very easy but maintaining it is very difficult, long and patient work. The organization tries its best to make any plant that is planted a complete tree, whether it is a shade tree, a flowering tree or a fruit tree.
This continued and at the end of the year 2019, the effects of the global epidemic of Kovid-19 were also set on Pakistan and the movement of people decreased, so the plantation process continued in a slightly different way during this epidemic. In this, plantations were planted in the places around the mosques and an effort was made to somehow use the water from the ablution room of the mosque to irrigate the trees. In this context, an attempt was made to grow a small urban forest from the water of the mosque so that the air quality of the city can be improved. Efforts were made to attract birds in particular. There was a time when bulbul, myna and green parrots were seen in Karachi which are now disappearing fast. An attempt was made to somehow bring the birds back and make the trees a habitat. That is why small forests were worked on. On the other hand, efforts were made to reduce the carbon and other harmful gases in the atmosphere of the city. Now Green Hands Welfare workers have planted several mini forests in the city.
Plastic pollution is now knocking at our door and has become a lifesaver for us. Another task of the organization is to discourage the use of plastic shopping bags and bags, to increase plantations and to create awareness among the public. Shahruz Siraj said, “20 years ago we used to use a cloth bag, which is now obsolete.” One cloth bag saves us dozens of single-use plastic bags for an entire month. We know that plastic does not last and is causing serious damage to the environment. It has become a major part of our waste. The river is blocking the drains and going into the river and ocean killing the aquatic life. Then the fine plastic particles have dissolved into our food, crops, soil, air and water in the form of microplastics. This is the reason why the organization gives awareness to children to reuse cloth bags as it is an eco-friendly habit. The same organization is trying to push the rainwater in the city of Karachi to such empty low-lying places where there are no seeds and thor so that the water can be gradually absorbed there and increase the underground water level (water table).
On the other hand, the organization’s effort is to identify the working class in the city that is increasing carbon through industrial processes, or using wood products for factories and factories, or contributing to air pollution. They are supposed to cooperate and do alternative work to repair the damage to the environment. That is, if a factory is using cardboard or wood, it should definitely plant a plant or tree and support such exemplary organizations.
On the same lines, green thinking should be made a part of their consciousness by teaching environmental friendliness to students. Recently, Green Hands along with Sab Dost Foundation have also planted plantations in Orangi Town on December 4 Wildlife Conservation Day. Apart from this, successful planting ceremonies have been held in many mosques, institutions and schools including University of Karachi. It should be noted that Karachi city needs crores of trees and in this regard we all have to play our role together.
We humans have evolved a lot and it is not inappropriate to say that today we are breathing in the digital world, so the importance of trees and plants cannot be denied – trees and plants provide us with oxygen to survive. are, but also reduce the pollution of the environment which is the need of the hourWe humans have a very deep connection with trees and plants and it is not wrong to say that it is connected with our emotions because they are the best friends of man – if we look with the eye of our heart, we will see trees and plants talking to us, they have a special smell of their own. which is embedded in our soul – then the flowers on the floor awaken a beautiful sense of their presence, seeing which makes us jealous of the craftsmanship of nature – now the butterflies hovering around the flowers and the beautiful voices of the birds binds a beautiful sky – if we take the example of whirlwinds Surprisingly, she collects sap from various flowers and turns it into honey –
We are all aware of the importance of plants as apart from wood, medicine, paper, fruits and vegetables etc., they have many amazing benefits that we cannot turn away from – trees provide shade whenever we are bothered by the scorching sun. If there are, first of all, they look for the shade of a tree around them so that peace can be available – they are the habitat of birds – they are the shelter of travelers – these trees contain many stories because many generations play in their shade and they are aware of every mystery. are
