This is almost the third roundabout on this road from Faizabad to Murree. When I regained consciousness, I found the name of the place to be Dhokri. As the population grew in size, the name was also changed. Now this place is known as Kashmir Chowk. Yes! The same Kashmir Chowk, right next to which the convention center is located.
On good days, during the summer, the heat would break while passing through here. A very pleasant chill was felt. With the feeling of coolness, the road would also start to feel good. I used to call it the cold road, because upon reaching here, the eyes felt a strange relief, as if the coolness of the air was visible in the form of a scent. It was common to freeze here during the winter days. One of the many reasons for this was that there were thick trees on both sides of the road, rather it would not be wrong to say that there was a dense forest. After about three kilometers from the forest, the population started. The lifestyle of the people living in the village was like a village. It is believed that the majority of the people living here are those who came from the villages in the suburbs and settled here permanently. There was also a series of keeping cattle in the houses.
Electricity was available in the area before I was conscious, however due to non-availability of gas, various people had to use cylinder gas. Those who could afford it used cylinder gas, the rest turned to the forest and cut wood to use as fuel. There were also two storm drains in the area, one of which has simply collapsed and now has sewer lines. falls and in the coming days something similar is going to happen to others. Gradually time passed. Innovation started coming. The streets are paved. Private schools are overcrowded. Sewage lines were laid, even gas facility was made available. At the same time, the construction of tall buildings around Dhokri Chowk also started. Now people passing by here seem to be trying unsuccessfully to count the floors of this tall building. Development has fully settled in this area. There are tall buildings and all basic amenities. But alas, that cool road is no longer cool. The people living here are now called citizens and proudly consider the area as their capital. The current government claims to plant billions of trees and perhaps even has the desire, but the high-rise building in Kashmir Chowk, which is widely speculated to have the flats of big personalities, is cut down in front of the same building. Why are the number trees not visible?
Why are there no cut trees within a few kilometers of the Parliament, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, President’s House and the Red Zone? Are those planting new trees under the Clean and Green Pakistan project not responsible for the protection of the existing trees? Capital Development Authority (CDA) What disease is the medicine?Surprisingly, even the villagers who used to cut firewood from the forest themselves, now complain about the rising temperature. The same cold road now serves as fuel for the fire in summer. Two or three years ago, when heat stroke was reported in the city of power, the scorching heat had reached its peak and at the same time a fire broke out in the forest on the outskirts of the city. Thus, instead of satyanas, there was satyanas. This year too, the sun was able to pour heat on Islamabad with full force and at the same time someone started a fire in Margalla Hills once again. The poor birds were all burnt.
But the arsonists forgot that the weather here was pleasant because of these trees. After deforestation and climate change, nature has also started to take back its reckoning. Just a few days ago, I heard in the news that more than twenty children of the public school were taken to the nearest hospital after they fainted due to the heat in the suburbs on the same cold road. If we stop taking care of trees and nature, then nature also leaves humans to their fate. There is still no time left, the government and the people should be aware and take steps together to restore and protect the forest. Otherwise, future generations will continue to become unconscious and adorn the news.
Capitalism, in its progressive era, has given humanity immense growth and ambitions that have never been seen before in human history. There was tremendous progress in science, art, culture, infrastructure, social science etc. Laws were made to protect the environment, national parks were created, measures were taken to protect animals. But now capitalism has become a victim of historical obsolescence and has come to the point where Engels said that there are only two paths before humanity: socialism or barbarism. But at this point capitalism has taken us further than barbarism.
Not only humanity is being massacred, but the natural environment of the planet is also suffering from severe destruction. Human history is a history of revolutions. Revolutions have played a fundamental role in taking humanity forward at every stage and in breaking old ways, traditions and ways. Today, humanity and the environment are suffering under the ravages of capitalism. Only a workers’ revolution can overthrow this rotten and outdated system and create a socialist system that heals the wounds of humanity as well as nature. Whether we like it or not, history has posed the most important question to our generation: the survival of humanity and the planet or the survival of capitalism?
